Rooftop farming

Went on a rooftop farm visit with some school mates. Learned so much about sustainable rooftop farming. Good stuff. I want one.

International Picnic

Had a picnic yesterday with the school international students. Pretty good day in central park. Didn't know people sunbathed in park. Now, I know.

PHP nerding

On a lighter note, I did something pretty awesome for my Web and E-Business class. Our group was stumped on our project because of our PHP code not working. We don't know PHP, we just code some code and tried to modify. And yeah it didn't work and even the professor was trying to find out what was wrong.

So a few days after I tried learning it from YouTube videos and other websites. And boom, I got a simple database to work. Felt awesome so I emailed the professor I did it. I got this as a reply...

Kind of anti-climactic because once you know how to do the programming, you want to run the hell away from it. Still, it's a time to shine so gots to make it cool.

A little persistence goes a long way. It might be to some weird place, but still a long way ahead.

Business Law B

Got a B in my Business Law midterm. I actually felt I was getting an A but I got a lot wrong on that test. There's always one class that gives you a hard time. Actually, most of my classes are challenging right now. Group projects are starting to get hard again.

I guess now's a good time to push and get some improvement happening.

If everything was easy, then it wouldn't be fun.

Grad help out

Kinda late but I helped out during this year's Fordham GBA graduation. I did it for the money but it was actually pretty good and nice to see people I know graduate. One day it will be my time too and I hope it would be just as cool. Great time.

GA turndown

I kind of did something contradictory to what I'm supposed to be doing this summer. This summer was supposed to be one where I do a whole lot of stuff. Unfortunately, this story is about me turning something down.

I got contacted for a Graduate Assistant position, interviewed and got accepted. That was pretty cool since I'd have a chance to earn some tuition money and learn from a mentor. What wasn't good was that I'd have to do that on top of my 5 classes and internship. It might sound like a bad excuse but that's what I told the professor and turned the offer down.

I tried to make up for it by looking for a replacement for the position and luckily I did.

That was two weeks ago and I keep wondering if I should have just taken it and work like crazy this summer. I guess I was also trying to free myself up for other things, or I'm giving myself more reason to do well in my current classes. I'll never know if I made the right decision until the end of this summer.

Live with your decisions.

Happy hour korean food

Last night was our school's happy hour. Pretty fun meeting up with classmates after the first week of Summer term. Have to remember Spider's Web beer tastes like coffee and beer.

After, I found myself joining the after happy hour eat out. Went to Seoul Garden in Korea Town, which was super good. Will have that tasty beef again for sure!

I now call this: The Beef of Legend

It's ok to pay a good price for good food and company.

Class of future thinking

I think I may have found my favorite class of the semester.

Most of the class will probably be forward thinking, making inconceivable stuff using ideas technology. What hit me most during the class was actually trying to think what things I loved doing and making something out of it. Most of the time, I find people compromising on what they want to do in their lives but I think this class gives us the chance to at least give it a shot.

Really excited to see how this class turns out.

Less consuming, more creating.

First day

My first class was Web and E-Business Technologies. Seems like a lot of work, plus some techinical lab parts. Apache, SQL, PHP and some other acronyms I hope to learn. Intimidating but interesting.

Gloomy day

Had one of those awkward moments in class where you have to find groupmates. I hate those, especially when you're an international student. Still, I got myself to be enthusiastic about it. Now I'm playing project manager for the group I'm in, being fancy with all my Google drive organizing skills.

Opened a fortune cookie at dinner tonight.

Thanks cookie

Hope it actually comes true.

Go all in, or don't go at all.
